No significant change was seen in November in the importation of durable goods, compared to the same period last year, whereas usually after the holidays, lower importation of durable goods is noted compared to the previous months.
There was a decrease in importation in most product compared to the same period last years, except for this washers and television which their importation increased. Importation of dishwashers increased by 15%, televisions by 1%, however there was a decrease of 1% in the importation of refrigerators and washing machines and a decrease of 15% in the importation clothes driers. Videos and DVD's saw a decrease in importation of 69% and 26%.
The value of importation of household electrical products in November decreased by 1.4% compared to the same period last year, a similar trend was seen in the value of importation of entertainment electronics.
It should be noted that from the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in importation of most durable goods (except for refrigerators, in which a small decrease was seen, as well as videos, due to the continuation of the trend to purchase DVD's). This is expected due to the expected increase in personal consumption of 3.6% for 2005.
The value of importation from the beginning of the year of household electrical products increased by 4.1% compared to the same period last year. The value of entertainment electronics increased from the beginning of the year by 13%.

Vehicles

The total number of vehicles imported in November 12005, was 10,700 of passenger vehicles, compared to 12,740 vehicles in November 2004, a decrease of 16%. Most of the decrease is due to the expectation that prices of vehicles will drop because of the lowering of purchase taxes beginning on December 1, 2005.
991 commercial vehicles were imported, an increase of 12% compared to November 2004 - this is despite the fact that a few months a go the possibility of deducting VAT when purchasing a commercial vehicle was cancelled.
Total revenue from Purchase tax from imported vehicles (passenger and commercial) in November was 500 million NIS, compared to 580 million NIS in November 2004 - a decease of 15%.
During the months January-November 2005, the importation of passenger vehicles totaled 121,261 vehicles, a decrease of 2.6% compared to the same period last year.
However, commercial vehicle importation increased by 21%, this increase was seen due to the change in the VAT regulations for commercial vehicles, while in the previous months, compared to the same period last year, a decrease which deducted the increase in importation of commercial vehicles this year.
Importation of cigarettes increased in November 2005 by 2.7 compared to last year.
Total value of importation in the month of November 2005 totaled 2.9 billion NIS, an increase of 5% compared to 2004.
